Let the Anointing Promote You

"Because he loves me," says the Lord, "I will rescue him"
Psalm 91:14

Today I want to encourage you to never try to be loved or seek acceptance by promoting yourself. Let your anointing—your divine calling from God—promote you. God sees your efforts and in the right course of time, He will promote you.

When David was only a shepherd boy, the youngest and least in his father’s house, he was anointed to be a king of Israel. In 1 Samuel 16:13 we see David did not promote himself but his anointing promoted him:

“So Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the presence of his brothers, and from that day on the Spirit of the Lord came powerfully upon David. Samuel then went to Ramah.”

In the course of time, the first king of Israel, Saul, died in battle and Israel had to appoint a new king. The Israelites went to a place called Hebron looking for the anointed David to be a king of Israel.

2 Samuel 5:2-3 says,

"All the tribes of Israel came to David at Hebron and said, we are your own flesh and blood.  When all the elders of Israel had come to King David at Hebron, the king made a covenant with them at Hebron before the LORD, and they anointed David king over Israel".

Notice that David had chosen Hebron as the site for his residence, since it was where he was anointed to become Israel’s second king. The moral of the story is stay in Hebron (in God’s presence) and promote Jesus. When the time is right, He will promote you, just like He promoted David.

In Jesus name

Amen
